Ashamed dovetails on left, proud on right
Over the past couple days, we’ve been practicing hand-cutting dovetail joints with pieces of poplar. One of our many aims is for the pins and tails (the puzzle-like pieces) to be “proud” or slightly raised from the surface of the adjoining board. My first dovetail was recessed and frankly, quite ashamed of itself. I joke, I kid! Though by my third attempt, I had actually made some decent progress.
Note, for my more curious readers, dovetails are typically used in constructing drawers while mortise and tenons tend to be used in making frames. Wow, it almost sounds like I know what I’m talking about!
You should be ashamed of yourself
